What is Kate Welshofer doing?
This question has persisted throughout my life but most recently after leaving my career in television news after almost thirty years.
The answer is simple: creating a life I truly love. For me, that has meant (so far) re-evaluating my priorities and leaning into my creative passions.
I am a writer, speaker, content creator and sometimes (okay maybe more than sometimes) mischief maker.
In late September of 2023, I started writing a column for my small hometown newspaper, The Perry Herald. Published in Perry, NY, it’s been around since 1877 and is still one of the few publications you will not find online. I decided it might be fun to start sharing the columns on Substack. You can find more here: https://substack.com/@katewelshofer
I also occasionally dabble on my YouTube channel, first launched in 2013. I consider it one of the best creative decisions I made, creating a place to play that ultimately helped me level up in my career. https://www.youtube.com/katewelshofer
As the co-creator and award-winning anchor of the popular local news program “Most Buffalo,” on the NBC affiliate in Buffalo, NY, I learned that I could build something from nothing, find an audience, spread joy in a place people weren’t used to seeing it and make a living doing it.
I love making things that make people’s days a little brighter and I love creating an environment where others feel free to do the same.
Over the years, this website has been a place to showcase my creativity. Now, it’s a testament to the power and joy of reinvention.
We can connect here professionally, you can read my written work and even check out my Secret Monster Project — a creative endeavor that’s taken on a life of its own!
As one of the people who has probably asked “what am I doing?” more than anyone else … it feels really good to confidently say… forging my own path.
Thank you for stopping by and feel free to drop me a line.
